In Summer 2022 the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts is offering ii pre-college programs for creative high schoolhouse students. The signature Studio Art Intensive program welcomes avant-garde art students looking to take art school for a examination drive. Participants volition refine their techniques in painting, cartoon, sculpture, and blitheness, diving into new and known mediums to develop their artistic artful. The Graphic Design Bootcamp, now in its 2nd year, invites creative students interested in the digital art world to a week of Adobe Creative Cloud instruction and career exploration. Both programs provide participants with an inspiring immersive summer art experience.
Studio Art Intensive
Dates:

Join the SMFA community of artists and makers, and spend your summer building a portfolio of new and exciting piece of work. Engage with our interdisciplinary approach to art making and create conceptually sophisticated artwork. Students in the Studio Art Intensive can look:
- foundations classes that blur the line between disciplines
- technical educational activity in cartoon, painting, sculpture and digital media
- mentorship from SMFA faculty members
- direct access to SMFA admissions representatives through individual portfolio reviews

Graphic Pattern Bootcamp
Dates:
Baronial one-five, 2022
Explore the exciting field of graphic design with the SMFA. Spend a week diving into Adobe Artistic Cloud software tools, hearing from professional person graphic designers, and exploring the intersection of liberal arts and fine art education. Students in the Graphic Design Bootcamp can expect to:
- become creative while strengthening communication and writing skills
- explore real-world tools and techniques in graphic blueprint
- acquire resume-building skills that can be applied to many areas of interest
Program Outcomes:
- understand the creative procedure
- knowledge of graphic design software tools
- completed pieces of work
Meet our Studio Art Intensive Staff!
Program Managing director: Ashley Wood
Ashley is an creative person and educator who has worked as a visual arts teacher, art education advocate, and arts program coordinator. As a writer and photographer, she is interested in making work that addresses the inadequacy of words and images to tangibly represent feelings, people, and places. Ashley earned her MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine art, Boston and Tufts University, and currently works full-time as a high school visual arts and humanities teacher at the Francis Due west. Parker Charter Essential School in Devens, MA.
Instructor: Christine Banna
Christineis a multidisciplinary animator and educator. She has been teaching animation in undergraduate and precollege programs for the past seven years. In her art practice she specializes in experimental blitheness and projection blueprint for alive events. She is an alumni of SMFA'southward graduate program and is thrilled to exist returning for her second summertime at SMFA's Pre-Higher Program.
Instructor: Michael MacMahon
Michael is part of the painting faculty at SMFA, originally from Ireland at present residing in the United States. In addition to painting he has enjoyed trans-disciplinary opportunities that bridge art and other ventures. Michael's paintings present a range of possible approaches and perspectives past which to analyze non only the unique places we inhabit, but also their context in relation to ourselves. Michael is an SMFA alumni and returning Pre-Higher instructor.
Instructor: Alaina Montuori
Alaina is an artist, educator, musician, and true cat lover who lives and works near Boston, MA. Alaina has taught in SMFA's Pre-Higher program since she was a graduate student at the higher in 2010 and has been instruction art curricula in both elementary and collegiate programs ever since. Her practice has spanned a variety of media - including sculpture, video, performance, illustration, and blueprint. Currently, Alaina runs a minor lettering pattern business in improver to her many artistic pursuits.
Meet our Graphic Blueprint Bootcamp Staff!
Program Director: Alysha Elliard
Alysha is an educator at Ipswich Loftier School in Media Arts, and at Bentley Academy in Media Production. She received a BFA from the University of Connecticut, and her Main's from Tufts University in Arts Education. Before becoming an educator, she worked in professional goggle box broadcast, with networks like NBC, CBS, ESPN, and FOX. Her experience in tv set made her grateful for her education in the arts, and was inspired to share with others that a caste in the arts tin can lead to many meaningful and of import career options in the 21st Century. She hopes to instill in her students a love for blueprint and creative thinking, and inspire students to think about how their passion for art and design can open doors to passionate careers.
Instructor: Meghan Michaud
Meghan Reilly Michaud is a Massachusetts based designer and educator. Michaud earned a BFA in Graphic Pattern from Rhode Island School of Design and an MEd in Secondary Education at Salem State Academy. She holds Massachusetts and National Board certification in art education. Michaud has been quoted in media such as Scholastic Art, US News and World Written report, PBS Learning Media, EdTech, amongst other resources for her teaching and art educational activity advancement. In addition to teaching at Andover Loftier School, Meghan continues her freelance pattern practice as Visual Identity Studio creating identity systems and communications for a variety of clients. Michaud is a fellow member of the Board of Governors at the RISD Museum.
